Objectives
The overall objective of the project is to improve access to high-quality and global-oriented science and technology higher education in the partner countries through a cloud-based, open access collaborative teaching and learning platform, and to build institutional capacities for providing high-quality Open and Distance Education (ODE) in science and technology areas for a wide and diverse group of learners.
The specific objectives of the project are:
• To develop, validate, and launch a collaborative and modular teaching and learning platform in open Technology-Enabled Active Learning (TEAL) environment, in the form of an open access online tool hosted in the cloud, allowing full customization to suit the needs of individual institutions, faculty, and learners in the partner country contexts
• Our second objective is to foster a better alignment between the interests of enterprises with the national public interest, especially in the field of climate change and disaster resilience.
• To initiate learning and teaching content development through the platform in key science and technology areas, thus kick-starting and promoting the use of the platform in learning networks within the partner countries.
• To build human resources capacity and sustainable support structures in order to enable the active exploitation of the platform in the participating partner country institutions.

Outputs & Outcomes
We expect TEAL 2.O to have the following outputs:
1. The nature of the TEAL 2.O activities and the project objectives are such that most of the project’s outputs will be usable by all HEIs and individual learners in the partner countries:
• One flexible backbone TEAL 1.O facility with standards for interfacing drivers and an operating system, allowing access to existing open courseware and learning resources, and featuring an advanced administrative structure
• Four functionality modules, each allowing the users to customize or enrich the teaching and learning environment: a) courseware module, allowing study program creation, module creation, lesson creation and content development; b) assessment module, allowing the creation of custom assessment schemes; c) software modules, allowing integration of open software into teaching and learning; d) hardware module, allowing integration of open hardware into teaching and learning for the purposes of simulation and experiments
• University centers are created in the partner countries to support and promote the platform and serve as contact points for institutions and individual learners seeking to use it in the future (TEAL 2.O - Support and Development Centers - SDCs)
2. The project is also expected to have outputs specifically for each of the
• a support structure (the SDC) created to enhance the quality of online learning within the university and offered by the university, in particular providing access to high-quality global expertise and modern learning support technology and virtual laboratories.
